So, I just want to know if there are fellow horror fans on this forum that have watched Fox's new bizarre horror-comedy TV show from the creators of Glee and American Horror Story: Scream Queens!
I may not know much about Glee or American Horror Story, but I feel like I can safely say that Scream Queens is definitely one of the most unique albeit highly unusual pieces of horror television that I've ever watched. I'll admit that much of the writing in terms of established characters and dialogue is fairly juvenile (even strictly taking it for the intended comedy) and strikes me as a little Kevin Smith-esque (whether that is a good or bad thing remains to be seen), but the show is not completely without its comedic high points that did pull a few chuckles out of me.
However, there's a really intriguing mystery to the show when you peel back the thick layers of absurdity. There's a lot going on in the plot that makes it feel like so much more than a commonplace Slasher Horror story. There's a pinch of conspiracy. There's a heavy sprinkling of symbolism. There's spoken AND visual clues buried in the show just waiting for the viewers to connect the dots.
...Plus, getting to the gritty bits, the full-fledged Slasher Horror-aspects of Scream Queens are to DIE for. Some cringe-worthy stuff and, being a horror fan, I love every bit of it!
So...reiterating: is anybody else here a Scream Queens watcher?
