Somewhere on here I read a quote by an author who said that ideas are like these beautiful butterflies that die when you put them on paper. Some days I feel like editing is when I get to patch up the butterfly's wings and give it life again. Some days I feel like the butterfly is dead and all I'm doing now is poking it with a stick.
So how do you approach editing? Is it the part where you get to make your writing match your vision, or the worst part of writing?
