Looking for cozy beta reader

mardi 13 octobre 2015

I live and travel full time in an RV along with my two dogs, I house and pet sit along the eastern seaboard of the US, and my friends have been suggesting that I write a series about my lifestyle. I have just finished the first book that I plan in this series. I'm a fan of thrillers, but my latest work, "The Wobbly Murder," is in the cozy genre.

I am the narrator, although my plot involves intervention by an animal where I house sit, and the sleuthing of my dogs. I plan that "The Wobbly Murder" and subsequent works will appeal particularly to dog and cat people. Besides describing breeds, I insert comments of historical interest, pet training, and health issues. My dog is beginning to have input as a narrator too.

I'm looking for a beta reader that can tell me if I've hit the mark. If this works well, I'm looking for writing buddies or beta readers that I can form a relationship with in the long run. I have one book up on Amazon, but am looking to make writing my full time occupation. I'd love to have a mentor.

I think I have most of the issues of verb tense, grammar, and continuity sorted out in "The Wobbly Murder," but any comments or suggestions further are appreciated. Mostly I'm looking to get feedback on how engaging it is. I've seen a lot of polished work, good writing, that isn't interesting. I want it to be a good story and I need beta readers to let me know. I have a thick skin and really want to hear if my work is worth the effort for final polish, does it need re-working, or should I start over. I was a graphic designer before this, so I'm used to and appreciate constructive criticism.

Since I travel I am most often reliant on host wifi, and where I am now it's a headache. The only thing I get reliably is email. Feel free to contact me at sshea@salemdesign.com
Thanks - CricketSail
