I'm Kathy and I'm in need of writer friends. I've been writing off and on for a number of years, but I haven't ever been able to establish consistent critique/writing relationships with other writers. I've had a few that have lasted for a week or two, then petered out, but nothing long term. I was hoping I could find a couple of people who also wanted to form a long term relationship of exchanging ideas, critiques, and encouragement.
I write YA fantasy (with hetero romance subplots) for the most part, with a couple of unfinished YA sci-fi and general fiction projects on the side. I am currently working on the sixth draft of one novel (which is also a first draft since I'm rewriting from the ground up after having completely reworked the plot). I'm finding it a little hard to motivate myself to write everyday, so I was hoping I could find a few people who wanted to commit to e-mailing regularly so we could encourage each other to meet our daily or weekly writing goals. I'd also love to get feedback on the my writing regularly (though not necessarily every day) and would be happy to give feedback back.
The key thing I'm looking for is a relationship, so a commitment to communicate regularly is key. I understand that life is busy. I'm busy with a FT job, a hubby, a baby on the way, and other life commitments. So I get that talking multiple times a day isn't necessarily possible, but I'd love to find a couple of people who might be willing to commit to exchanging e-mails at least once a day, or if things are really busy, once a week, along with a regular schedule of exchanging work for feedback. I'm flexible, but a commitment would help me feel like I'm not getting into another relationship that's going to be great for a week or two then die out when things get a little hectic for either of us.
As I said above, I write mostly YA fantasy, so people who also write that would be ideal, but I'm happy to read other stuff too. Feel free to PM me if you're interested in starting up a conversation and seeing if we might fit as writing buddies.
