I'm thinking of writing a space opera serial as a side project as I translate my fantasy novels into English.
The idea is to tell the story of war that lasts ten years, as then different short stories about ten different characters. That way I can show many different aspects of the setting and different viewpoints. In my current rough draft each story leads to the next one in some way (the spy steals blueprints for a new warship, which the general then takes advantage of in a battle), and several characters recur in stories other than their own, most notably the one who takes the throne in the climax.
I was planning to release these cheap on Amazon as I finish them, both because I just want to write this and in the hopes of raising my online presence a bit.
Maybe if it meets with some success I gather the entire thing into a single novel.
Does this sound like something people would be interested in?
Does this format work?
