The New Wave of the 1960's/1970's is long over, Bizarro fiction is for a cult minority. In Russia Victor Pelevin writes psychedelic Zen bestsellers, and France has a popular guy writing out-of-body sci-fi, I forget his name, but these are rather specific markets. Today, in the anglosax publishing field, I can find psychedelic elements in horror and sci-fi, but not a lot.
Can anyone think of a reasonably contemporary success story of a novel, which has long section describing borderline, mind-bending stuff?
The only one I can think of right now is Peter Straub's A Dark Matter (2010).
Please share any book you can think of.
