Sat Nam! (literally "Truth Name"--a Sikh greeting)
Quick question: How common are open mikes (sharing stories about deceased) at memorial services for latinos? My group is a mix of latinos and WASP. The service, which will be at the mortuary, not a church, is being arranged by the WASP grandmother for her murdered grandson. But most of the family is Mexican-American. They won't have an open mike (due to an obnoxious family member), and it would help my plot if this were unusual.
Oh, and I understand mariachi bands are common. When do they play? and where? and what do they play? (I always associate mariachi bands with dance, so this seems a bit weird to me, but I'm willing to put it in, if necessary.)
Thanks and God bless.
Blessings,
