Rumors are that Joe Biden is considering entering the presidential race. Rumors are he might pledge to serve only one term. Reports say he "secretly" met with Sen. Elizabeth Warren this weekend. Warren, by all accounts, has a large following among Democrats. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, is dropping in the polls even though she has little or no serious competition.
So, suppose Mr. Biden announces sometime soon that he is running. Further, he announces he would only serve one term and, if nominated, would make Sen. Warren his running mate. They may even campaign as a team from the start. Warren could probably make certain points about Clinton that he would rather not make himself. That's what VP candidates traditionally do, after all. If the plan worked, Biden would get his presidency, and Warren would be ideally placed to run in 2020.
