Early on, in my writing, I was taught "to be" a good writer, to stay away from words like "has been," or "to be," etc., plus avoid using words like "sorry" or "I'm sorry." In addition you never want to be :Shrug: a "has been."
For example, never say you're sorry, it's more eloquent to "apologize." So I apologize for this thread if it offends you. In the case of "has been" you would not say, "He has been to Italy," it's better to say, "He has visited Italy." In the case of "to be," you would not say "The food waste is to be thrown in the trash can," when the better usage is, "Place all food waste in the trash can."
