Target to remove Pink/Blue signage - People lose their minds

vendredi 14 août 2015

Target's Post on their website (LINK).

Quote:

Right now, our teams are working across the store to identify areas where we can phase out gender-based signage to help strike a better balance. For example, in the kids’ Bedding area, signs will no longer feature suggestions for boys or girls, just kids. In the Toys aisles, we’ll also remove reference to gender, including the use of pink, blue, yellow or green paper on the back walls of our shelves. You’ll see these changes start to happen over the next few months.
Note that this is in reference to the SIGNAGE. Not the toys themselves. They will continue to carry all of the same toys and bedding options.

(One thing that a twitter poster commented on was this IMAGE that shows a sign for "Building Sets" and "Girls' Building Sets" because... you know... the norm is always male?)

And, naturally, some folks:

A. Do not understand that this only applies to signage and believe that the toys themselves will be "neutral"
B. Think it's a gigantic liberal politically correct move that has "pussified" Target.
C. Are afraid of their kids being turned "neutral"
D. Have enough outrage over this announcement (or their misunderstanding of said_announcement) that they must comment on Target's Facebook page and threaten to "never shop at Target again" because THEY themselves are very offended at what they read as people being offended.

And we have this guy, the Target Troll (under the name Ask ForHelp) who posed as a target customer service representative and "responded" to the outraged folks posting on Target's website.

Link to his FB Album featuring all of his responses screen-captured (not sure if you can see it w/o being logged in, but it appears to be open to all who ARE logged into FB)

It's been quite the drama all around.
