Hey Friends,
It's been a while since I posted here but I have a nagging question. I prefer to write Pirate fiction but lately have stumbled onto a brutal Civil War based idea with plenty of plot-themes, turns, twists, and redemption. My question is, in order to maintain the brutality and realism of this Civil War based plot, I feel it somewhat necessary to include the dreaded N-Word in my text. I'm an older author, approaching age 50, and see no ego-centrism or intentional racist malice in using the word. However, as the world has sunk and dipped into this whole "politically correct" attitude, would it be writer's suicide to contain this word in my manuscript?
