I'm pantsing a novel for the first time in ages. I'm confident so far, but it worries me because I've only once finished a novel I started without a plan. For this one, I have several scenes in mind and know the turning points of each act, but I don't have a clear outline and have mostly just let my MC do what she wants as long as it advances the plot.
So, pantsers, how do you do what you do? How much of an idea do you need for it to be successful? How much editing do you tend to have to do? What do you make up as you go and what do you know going in?
