I saw this on CNET today, about Google Hangouts getting better blah blah - but I just don't even get how it works. Is it just like texting from Google browser rather than my phone? So like instant messaging?

Useful I guess if you're working from your desktop or tablet - but only if your Google contacts are also using Hangouts, right?
