Last Thursday an agent responded to my query letter the day after I sent it and asked for a synopsis and three chapters. I was excited, of course, and sent them off later that night. Yesterday, Monday, she asked for the full manuscript. My reaction was so visceral-- I got really cold and jittery and couldn't stand still.
But then as I was going through my manuscript last night, I started thinking, "This is all crap," where before I thought, "this is something good!"
Does anyone else second guess themselves once an agent has requested to see your work? I keep trying to tell myself that if they liked the first three chapters and if the rest of the book is on the same level (which I believe it is) that there's nothing to worry about. Regardless, I know the best thing to do is put it out of my mind because I likely won't hear back again for several weeks and also just feel good that I've gotten this far. With my first novel, I never got requests for more after an agent read a partial, so I'm already making good progress with this second attempt.
Agent requested partial and then full... Nerves!
