Hi,
While reading a novel I came across these sentences that confused me a bit. Could anyone explain them to me?
#1: (A couple adopts a child and looks after her.) The sentence is:
Neither of them(parents) ever thought of Rina(daughter) as anything but their own natural child
(Does it mean they thought of her as their child(as I'm assuming) or does it mean they thought of her as NOT their natural child?
#2 (A woman hopes to make out with her student(another female). After changing in the dressing room the sentence is:
At a quick glance few could tell her from a man.
Does it mean she is a man dressed as a woman, or does it mean she is a woman who has dressed a man for the party which she is going to? (I think it's the latter.)
What do these sentences mean?
